Red skin, Rosacea
Rosacea is a long term recurrent condition which causes a red flushing of facial skin which many find very embarrasing.
It more commonly affects people with fair skin. The cause of Rosacea is not well understood but we know that it is a disorder of blood vessels within the skin. The condition may be seen affecting the face, eyes, ears, chest, scalp or neck. Sufferers experience episodic flushing, redness, red bumps, fine vessels, eye irritation and later on the skiin thickens. Rosacea is triggered by heat, drinking hot beverages, hot showers or baths, some skin products, the menopause, stress, sunlight excess alcohol intake and spicy food. Though there is no available cure there are treatments to manage the condition and avoidance of triggers.
